Nonsense! The penguin settled this debate quite adequately*. I'm sure no one in the comments will have further opinions on the issue.

*I never thought I'd say that in my life.

You know, if you make guns illegal, it's only solving half the problem. If you make MURDER illegal though, that means people won't be able to use guns or anything else to kill people! It's genius!

The only way this could fail is if some people genuinely didn't intend to follow laws or regulations, but the thought of that is just silly.

We should make thinking about doing illegal acts illegal so when someone is planning to do something illegal they will think about it like 100 times a day and there's no way someone would break the law 100 times a day they would have to turn themself in.

Because then no one would pay attention to the artist's inane political rantings.

Webcomis are the best way to put your political opinions on a platform. A platform with penguins in funky eyewear.

The amendment doesn't say that, that's just one part of it.

Imagine if there was a law that said: "If someone threatens your life, you may use deadly force to kill them".
And then people went around saying:
""you may use deadly force to kill them", it's a law. I can kill if I want", what you're doing is practically the same.

Guns don't necessarily equal deadly force. It is possible to shoot someone without killing them, especially with lighter guns.

As unlikely as this scenario would be (talking penguin notwithstanding), he has a point. If we want to end gun violence, we should probably be worrying more about the noun than the adjective.
Jan 18th, 2013quote
If we make high-capacity guns as well as pistols (revolvers are safe) illegal, then it will be much harder to get them. That way, even though people will get them through illegal methods, SOME of the crime will be stopped. Do we want to ignore a partial solution in favor of a lack of a solution? Existing weapons can be grandfathered in, of course, or a trade-in program like Australia did.

You completely missed the point.
The point being that you can't just crop out the part of the second amendment that you like and ignore the rest.

So as far as I am concerned, no American has the right to bear arms, unless they do so as a part of a WELL REGULATED MILITIA.
Because that is what the amendment is saying.
Jan 19th, 2013quote
I wholeheartedly vote we do take away guns from every normal, law-abiding citizen. Their claims of "it protects us" is just an excuse to give them the ability to shoot up a school later on in life whenever they feel like it! And no one would dare illegally acquire a gun to commit crimes, especially when we've got our police forces on the job! They're completely reliable and will arrive on the scene in an instant, so we really have nothing to worry about by taking away the guns of the millions of potential gun murderers.

And when "militia" meant "relatively untrained local citizens given guns as backup defense should the official army go awry, fail, or not get there fast enough to be any good".

i.e. everyone that owned a gun

You'd think pistols would be the stuff that could stay legal; I'd be more for taking machine guns or other "military grade" stuff off the market.

Mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, sons and daughters die everyday. Around 151,600 a day actually.

^ This is my thought. Life happens. Nobody lives forever, and 99% of the time, it's going to be tragic and sad when they die whenever that is. If those "mothers, fathers, etc" died natural deaths decades from now, it will still be just as sad to those close to them as it is now.

Thats the stupidest thing Ive ever heard. Sure death is all the same but life isnt, 7 years of life does not equal 67. Thats 60 years of times spent with said loved ones. It'd be nice if psychopaths only killed people on their death beds but they dont, they cut down innocent life in its prime.

Again though, that happens at a constant rate around the world. Those 151,600 that die a day aren't all old people in deathbeds. It's men, women, and children of all ages, races, and lifestyles. Around 21,000 or so of those are children. So everyday 21,000 or so children die. That eclipses the shooting by quite a bit eh?

I suppose, what I'm getting at is a cynical observation that maybe people only seem to care about death when the media makes a big deal out of it, or they personally knew the people who died.

I see that but whats the point of making that observation? Either way said people are completely justified in having those feelings, and its a better world if we can spare those feelings for just a little while longer. Death isnt something you can chalk up to statistics. One innocent life lost a day is too much. Just because we dont have to see it everyday, or feel it, does not mean we dont understand that. Why don t you?

It's merely an observation.
An observation towards a point that is largely unrelated to gun control, so instead of giving you the paragraph response I originally typed out and further de-railing this comment thread into oblivion, I'll just stop here.

But it is. In America alone, 82, of that 151,600 die by gunfire. If we figure out how to control guns, that number will shrink. And though it may not be much in comparison to 151,600 if one life is saved, it's worth it.
